The Poplar in this rack is the Chinese Poplar. A soft, fast growing timber found on farms all over Aotearoa. It’s appeal for me is that it’s abundant and inexpensive so I use it a lot in prototyping ideas. But it is also incredibly beautiful with lots of lights in the grain and lovely sap staining swooping all around the place.
The totara is described on the other racks it has been incorporated in on this website. It is filled with resin. shaped and inlaid in its aluminium frame. Then inlaid again in the body of the rack.
Finally an Aluminium frame finishes the effect.
